![]() Team Objective – Chivalry’s vision for an immersive medieval experience was about more than just satisfying combat. Whether you are a matador or a bull, we provided the arena. This combined to put players into a battle for survival that was meant to engage both the ancient and modern mind, from the chest-beating primitive drive of dominance, to the intellectual joy of outwitting and besting your opponent. This constant onslaught of challenge and pursuit of mastery was enhanced by the deep satisfaction of landing strikes with real weight that tore enemies limb from limb. In every life you were up against the odds and had to carve a path through waves of incoming opponents, each time just barely finding a way to survive. It was our goal to draw out the competitive spirit of a warrior in our players. The combat system represented a unique blend of an FPS and a fighting game and was our approach to capturing the player fantasy of becoming the ultimate swordsman or your favourite medieval movie hero. Melee combat – Chivalry’s realtime strikes system brought a new level of control over melee combat that allowed for thousands of hours of mastery while promoting player creativity and precision. Sure, it was rough around the edges in everything it did, but it captured a certain special combination that somehow let it become greater than the sum of its parts. Upon its launch, Chivalry was well-received as a cult hit and its unique appeal launched our indie dream into the best selling title on Steam throughout the week of Christmas 2012. Here are what we believe are some of the key factors that made Chivalry a success: What Chivalry got right: But first, we wanted to recap how we as the developers view the success and downfalls of our first attempt at this ambitious project, several years removed from its launch. We’re looking to provide the next “moment” with Chivalry 2 by reconnecting with our drive and passion to deliver the best medieval combat experience possible. Whether you were jumping into the sun-soaked Moor for a quick FFA, or waging an epic siege in the atmosphere-heavy Battlegrounds map, we have heard from many of our players that Chivalry 1 felt like a “moment” in gaming, not just for the melee genre. When it first launched, Chivalry captured a certain kind of gritty, visceral, in-your-face intensity and hilarity that hadn’t yet been tapped into in gaming. Almost overnight we went from being a bunch of amateur dreamers, who had pieced the game together while working remotely from all over the world, to the overseers of a hit game played by millions. Released in 2012, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare’s immediate success blew us away and continued on to exceed our team’s wildest dreams. Today, we’re sharing a prequel to this series, an Edition 0 if you will, reflecting on our past before diving into our plans for the future. ![]() We are excited to share details with you over the coming months, and we hope you enjoy a peek behind the development curtain. ![]() Good morrow, knights! In a concerted effort to include our community in the development process of Chivalry 2, we will be releasing a blog series called Code of Chivalry exploring the creative vision of our upcoming game. ![]()

The RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise is not owned by Atari, but by designer Chris Sawyer, who created the first two much-loved games in the series (check out our big interview with Chris Sawyer for more). Could Frontier have wrestled control of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 from Atari as part of a settlement? If so, perhaps it intends to re-launch the game itself - even though it clashes somewhat with Frontier's own - and excellent - Planet Coaster. We have so far been denied our contractual right to audit by Atari, and we are unfortunately left with no other way to resolve our concerns. "We have attempted to resolve this issue without legal action since April 2016. "We can confirm Frontier is currently pursuing a complaint against Atari," chief operating officer David Walsh said. In a statement to Eurogamer issued in January 2017, Frontier confirmed the action. And, Frontier said, Atari delayed when it was asked for an audit of its sales report. So, Frontier worked out it should have received $3.37m in royalties from Atari, but got only $1.17m. Frontier said it amended its contract for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 after Atari went bankrupt in 2013, and "another website", perhaps SteamSpy, revealed higher sales figures than previously thought. So, why would Atari's licensing rights to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 expire? It may have something to do with a lawsuit between Atari and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 developer Frontier, which we reported on back in January 2017.įrontier claimed it was owed $2.2m in royalties by Atari over RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, which came out in 2004. Silverbacks and grizzlies have a few things in common, such as their strength and their ability to walk either upright or on all fours, but really, that is where the similarities end. Let’s really compare the grizzly bear and the silverback gorilla to see just how big an advantage the grizzly has over the silverback. ![]() The grizzly’s claws alone, which can be as long as four inches, would give it a significant advantage in an altercation with a silverback. In such cases, these bears are a grave danger to humans, and our larger primate cousins would probably not fare much better. Grizzlies mostly avoid humans when they can, but sometimes they will stumble into a campsite, or an errant hiker will get between a mother and her cubs. ![]() Grizzlies, on the other hand, can be quite aggressive. However, they will defend themselves and their families. They do not attack humans except in very rare circumstances. In general, Silverbacks are considered peaceful creatures. The one advantage that a Silverback might have is the enormous strength of its muscles. While silverbacks and grizzlies may share a few similarities, the silverback gorilla and the grizzly bear are very different animals, who live in vastly different habitats, eat quite different diets, and grow to vastly different sizes from one another.Īlthough a silverback gorilla is very fast, quite strong, and has a longer arm span, it is unlikely that a silverback could defeat the much larger and faster grizzly bear in a fair fight. If there were ever to be a fight between a Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) and a Silverback Gorilla, there would likely be a clear winner, but let’s get back to that in a moment. Because of this, it may be assumed that all references to “Silverback Gorillas” are regarding the adult males of each species. They are called Silverbacks because of the silvery sheen that develops over the hair on their backs once they reach adulthood. Though many people know them or refer to them as “Silverback Gorillas,” the term “Silverback” is actually exclusive to the adult males of the species properly known as the Mountain Gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei). The manufacturers can also use temperature sensors, audio detectors, microwave sensors or humidity sensors to detect the presence of humans, but the most common are the PIR and the ultrasonic sensors – to get the most reliable motion sensor light switch, it is better to use both (for smaller and more significant movement detection). TopGreener TSOS5 Motion Sensor Light Switch Leviton Decora OSSMD-GDW Smart Light Switch UPDATE : The TopGreener TSOS5 has been added to the best motion sensor light switch list. In order to properly detect the presence of a human being inside a room, the occupancy (motion) sensor can take advantage of several types of technologies: it can be a pyroelectric sensor which measures the infrared radiation (PIR – Passive InfraRed) and, since everything emits a certain level of IR radiation, it is quite easy to detect major fluctuations emitted when a person passes by (the disadvantage is that the sensor will detect only significant movements and only in direct line of sight) the second major type of occupancy sensors can use the ultrasonic technology in order to detect smaller changes into the environment (so the light doesn’t turn off when you’re reading a book or typing on the computer keyboard) – to accomplish it, the sensor sends a small pulse into the room, which returns and allows the device to detect any changes (the disadvantage is that it can be prone to false detection and it draws more power). I’m sure you have encountered at least one motion sensor light in a public bathroom or in a hotel, but, as these devices became more reliable (and more affordable), they are now quite widespread in homes as well. This type of approach has been around for more than a decade and it has proven to be very useful in many applications. ![]() A motion sensor light switch differs from the traditional light switch in both design and functionality, but most importantly, the most fundamental distinction between them is the use of a motion sensor to detect movement and to automatically turn on the light in a specific area. ![]() ![]() ![]() Find related and similar companies as well.
